Save big with Student ID

One of the first expenses of a college student is the handy Student Identification Card. This card will allow you to check out library books, store your meal plan, and act as a key card to your dorm building.

With the stress and demands of college, many companies and businesses recognize that students deserve a break. They look to the handy student ID card to reward college students  for their fine behavior. Hundreds of stores and businesses offer student discounts to individuals who present a valid student ID.

Many computer and software companies offer discounts for students. These are extremely beneficial to students with majors in design or computers. Apple offers discounts all year long with an added $100 Apple gift card for the App Store, iTunes Store, and iBookstore with the purchase of a qualifying Mac. Adobe offers discounts of up to 80% off retail value for students and teachers. Sony saves students 10% at checkout for purchasing items from the Sony Education Store.

The entertainment industry is no stranger to discounts either. AMC Theatres, Regal Movie Theatres, and Cinemark offer discounted movie tickets to students. Museums offer discounts and free memberships to students; popular museums with discounts include: the Museum of Modern Art, the Denver Art Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Music companies and performing arts centers also offer a variety of discounts; including:  The Lincoln Center, the Houston Ballet, Carnegie Hall, and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Check with a local museum or theater to see if they have any promotions or specials specifically for students.

Transportation is important to every student. Airfare services such as STA Travel and Student Universe offer discounted travel deals. Car insurance companies like Allstate, Geico, State Farm, and Esurance offer discounts for students who do well in school. Amtrack gives a 15% off discount to students riding the train.

Cell phone companies offer a range of discounts for college students. Verizon Wireless discounts 18% off the student’s monthly bill. AT&T and Sprint give 10% discounts to college students. T-Mobile offers a six percent discount off the monthly bill to students.

Clothing is a necessity for all college students. Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Charlotte Russe, Eddie Bauer, Foot Locker, Gap, J. Crew, Juicy Couture Medelita The Limited, New York and Company, Ralph Lauren Rugby, Topshop, and Urban Outfitters offer an array of discounts for students who show their ID card.

Food is also a huge factor for college students. Many franchises offer discounts for students. These franchises include: Arby’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Burger King, Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, Dairy Queen, Dominos Pizza, IHOP, Maggie Moos, McDonald’s, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, Qdoba, Subway, and Waffle House.

There are many discounts available to hard-working students with a valid college ID. It never hurts to ask an employee for available specials and promotions. The worst that can happen is they say no. Be sure to show appreciation and thank the employee for offering you the discount.
