Celebrities agree: It helps to have a Degree

Portrait of a study groupAs you decide whether or not to attend college, it can be tempting to take a different path and try to become famous. While celebrity status may be in your future, it takes work and dedication to achieve those dreams.

While it is often misunderstood that one can become famous without attending college, many celebrities are grateful for the education and the degrees they worked hard for. Take a tip from the following famous individuals and consider getting a degree instead of relying on luck.

Natalie Portman- The Black Swan actress took a break in her acting career to study psychology. She graduated from Harvard University after she appeared in Star Wars: Episode I- The Phantom Menace.

James Franco- Best known for his portrayal of Harry Osborn in the Spiderman trilogy, James Franco is an English Literature graduate from University of California, Los Angeles. James Franco plans to continue his education with a master’s degree. He stated “I am going back to school because I love being around people who are interested in what I’m interested in.”

Meryl Streep- The seventeen time Academy Award nomination star began her acting career at Vassar College. Upon graduation, she attended Yale School Of Drama where she received her degree in drama.

Carrie Underwood- The country music superstar graduated from Northeastern State University with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications. Her social and communicating skills attribute to her connection to fans and the media.

John Krasinski- The Office star is a Brown University graduate with a degree in play- writing. While in school, he coached a youth basketball team.

Queen Latifah- The Academy Award nominated actress attended Manhattan Community College to study broadcast journalism. After graduation, Queen Latifah became a successful hip- hop artist and actress.

Tina Fey- The Saturday Night Live star studied play- writing and acting while attending the University of Virginia. She graduated with a degree in drama and the rest is history.

Ashton Kutcher- As a student at the University of Iowa, Ashton Kutcher studied biochemical engineering. He was motivated and inspired to find a cure for his brother’s heart problems. After he graduated with his bachelor’s degree, he took up acting.

Rashida Jones- The funny girl and daughter of Quincy Jones graduated from Harvard University in 1997 with a focus in religion and philosophy. While at Harvard University, Rashida Jones was very involved with the performing arts department and acted in several plays.

Adam Sandler- Despite being known for his immaturity and jokes, Adam Sandler is a fine arts graduate from New York University. He is also often found at the University of California, Los Angeles basketball courts playing ball with current students.

Even if you feel like you are destined for stardom, use these celebrities experience as an example. Consider getting your degree and then pursuing celebrity status. Many celebrities focus their studies on fine arts, theater, communication, or broadcasting.
